Linton Park’s legacy started in 1699 as the farm De Slange Rivier. The original farm was named for the winding stream, Snake River or Slange Rivier, which still finds its source in the majestic Groenberg Mountain which forms the perfect backdrop for the gracious Cape Dutch manor house and cellar.
The farm is owned by the multi-national agricultural company, the Camellia Group, whose headquarters in the UK is located in the 18th century country manor named Linton Park.
While wine would have been made here since 1699, Linton Park’s cellar dates back to 1921 still with its original cement tanks. As part of the current cellar expansion project these will be converted into open top fermenters. The neglected Cellar was restored along with the Manor House when the property was purchased by Camellia in 1995 and presently an additional project is underway to modernise the facility further.
Predominantly red varietals have been planted to expand their portfolio and allow for red blends to complement the current single varietal range. The tasting venue has recently also been upgraded offering a tranquil space from which to admire the manor house and gardens, and the wines of course.
