Little Loft House is a charming self-catering cottage situated in rural countryside, 11.6 km outside the town of Wellington. The house is attached to the furthest end of a barn, away from the main farm house, in the 1.7-acre fenced field garden and is completely private.
The house can accommodate a maximum of 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. Minimum age for children is 10. The first bedroom contains an extra-length queen-size bed and the second bedroom contains 2 single beds. The bedding is pure cotton and the duvets are goose down. The bathroom has a shower, a toilet and hand basin. Please note the bathroom is downstairs, while the 2 bedrooms are up a flight of stairs in the loft. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, a microwave, an electric oven, a stove with gas burners, a kettle, a toaster, a teapot, a coffee pot and the necessary cooking and dining equipment. A braai grid is available to use on the outdoor fire pit. The cosy sitting room has a fireplace and no television. Guests are encouraged to bring games and books. A few board games are provided and there is a bookshelf with books.
To make you feel welcome, a few grocery items are supplied, such as tea, instant and filter coffee, rusks, sugar, milk, a pat of butter and eggs. Your first basket of firewood will be supplied free of charge and thereafter you can buy more in town. Wellington has a few supermarkets available. Soap and bath towels are provided, as well as washing up liquid and toilet paper. There is no washing machine or dishwasher.
Enjoy uninterrupted views towards Riebeek Kasteel from the verandah, which is also an ideal spot to enjoy sundowners in the evenings. A farm gate allows access to the farm itself, should you wish to go for a stroll. The area of Agter Groenberg is popular with cyclists, and there are kilometers of dirt track and gravel road for those who are interested. Guests must bring their own bicycles. Agter Groenberg forms part of the Renosterveld Conservancy close to the Lemietberg Mountains range. This area is the natural habitat of several wild species including Bat Eared Fox, Cape Fox, Wild Boar, Steenbok, Porcupine, Fish Eagle, Secretary Birds, Blue Cranes, Hoepoe and also a variety of fynbos, some of it endangered. Although seeing any of the above can’t be guaranteed, one can be sure these all around and a chance sighting or encounter is always possible! The farm is in a very quiet, rural area but is by no means remote. Wellington with its variety of supermarkets, shops and banks, as well as a post office, is only 10 minutes away.
There are 3 watch dogs that have full run of the property, and are likely to visit.
