DIEMERSFONTEIN

Diemersfontein is known for its beauty, informal elegance, and grace - an idyllic country destination only 45 minutes' drive from Cape Town and is situated near the Cape's famous Wine Routes. We warmly invite you to share with us the tranquil spirit of Diemersfontein - whether you are conferencing here, marrying here, staying for a few days of leisure (or even permanently) - or taking some of it home in a bottle!

Carignan Cottage @ Welgegund Farm - If you are seeking rustic country charm and a relaxed getaway, a stay in one of the tastefully decorated suites of Welgegund Farm cottage in Wellington offers the perfect break. Located in a tranquil, oak-lined cul-de-sac on the ‘horse-shoe’ road leading towards the majestic Hawequa mountains, the rural feel of this working wine farm with its historic white-washed Cape architecture will find you wanting to extend your stay. Welgegund Farm was once owned by Cecil John Rhodes as part of the Rhodes Fruit Farms. The Manor House is featured in the book The Old Buildings of the Cape and is on the register of Provincial heritage sites. Guests have a choice of three en-suite bedrooms, aptly named Rose, Carignan and Pinotage after some of the boutique wines produced by Welgegund. In addition to the use of the tennis court, guests can choose to relax in the sparkling swimming pool. In the evening when the mountains turn pink, a walk in the vineyards with the resident ridgebacks will make you feel a thousand miles away.
