Mont Du Toit. Mont du Toit Kelder lies at the foot of the picturesque Hawequa mountain, Wellington, Western Cape, bordering Paarl, the centre of wine production in South Africa, and some 65 kilometres north-north-east of Cape Town.
Some 26 – dis 28 hectares of vines grow on north and northwest facing slopes in weathered granite, and sandy loam in the lower areas. The vineyards are between 9 to 26 years old, with 2-3ha of new vineyards. Cultivars used for the production of these fine red blends, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Mouvedre, Alicante Bouschet, and Tinta Barocca. Wine production at Mont du Toit is based on a traditional ‘low-tech’ approach.
Only red varieties have been and will be planted - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Alicante Bouschet, Mourvedre, Tempranillo and Petit Verdot. |
