Twenty registered tourist guides from the Cape Tourist Guides Association had the opportunity to experience the varied attractions and wine estates of Wellington on Friday, 26 September 2014.

The group participated in a full day educational tour, sponsored by Drakenstein Local Tourism Association (DLTA), and were treated to breakfast at Au’ de Hex, a site visit to Langkloof Roses, lunch at the historic Welvanpas farm, wine tasting at Nabygelegen and a visit to the Breytenbach Centre.

“Our local tourist guides are critical in delivering a top quality visitor experience to tourists to the Western Cape from around the Globe and we are excited that so many tourist guides could experience Wellington as a tourist themselves. Our purpose is to spread the news about the destination’s many unexplored attractions and to encourage increasing numbers of tourists and guided tours to visit Wellington,” concludes David Frandsen, CEO of Drakenstein Local Tourism Association.

The Wellington Tourism Meet & Greet function held on Monday, 11 August 2014 at the Breytenbach Centre in Wellington, generated a lot of excitement and members were eager to learn more about the newly formed Drakenstein Local Tourism Association (DLTA). The DLTA has been tasked with the responsibility for destination marketing and tourism development for Wellington, Paarl and the entire Drakenstein region, and it opened its doors on 1 July 2014.

BARTHOLOMEUS KLIP FARMHOUSE AWARDED 2014 TRIPADVISOR CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE

Recognised as a Top Performing Hotel as Reviewed by Travellers on the

World’s Largest Travel Site

They announced today that it has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.  Establishments awarded the Certificate of Excellence are located all over the world and represent the upper echelon of businesses listed on the website.

When selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honorees that takes into account reviews ratings.  Businesses must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, volume and recency of reviews. Additional criteria include a business’ tenure and popularity ranking on the site.

Winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is a true source of pride for the entire team at Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse and we’d like to thank all of our past guests who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor,” said Lesley Gillett, Manager at Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse. “There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one’s customers. With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence.”

“TripAdvisor is pleased to honour exceptional hospitality businesses for consistent excellence,” said Marc Charron, President of TripAdvisor for Business. “The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers. From Australia to Zimbabwe, we want to applaud exceptional hospitality businesses for offering TripAdvisor travellers a great customer experience.”

With the release of our first cookbook Life on a Cape Farm in August 2013, we  were delighted at the response from our guests and community regarding the recipes as well as the  photographs taken by Bruce Tuck.

Along with the talented team at Random House Struik  we put together a  beautiful book we are really proud of and hope will inspire more people to come and visit this wonderful part of the Cape. We have recently learnt that our book was the winner for South Africa  for   best local cuisine book. The winner in each country will compete against winners in the same category in other countries for The Best in the World. The results will be announced on May 20-21, 2014  at the annual Awards event. It will take place in Beijing during  the Beijing Cookbook Fair, May 19-21, 2014.
